Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant: Removing obstacles and speeding up preparation for commercial operation

According to Mr. Ho Xuan Hien, Head of Song Hau 1 Project Management Board, as of March 15, 2021, the total accumulated progress of Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant Project reached about 95.78%; of which design work reached 99.91%, procurement work reached 99.91%, construction work reached 98.12% and test running work reached 74.85%. Actual progress is expected to complete and commercially operate Unit 1 in October 2021 and Unit 2 in December 2021.

The work of receiving coal for test running begins on March 1, 2021, the first test of firing the furnace with coal is expected on April 15 – 20, 2021. The project has completed and signed contracts for all items of coal, oil and limestone as well as the consumption of ash, slag and gypsum. Currently, DO oil and coal have been supplied for trial running; Limestone will be supplied in early April 2021; The ash and slag package has been “kicked off” with the contractor for implementation.

Regarding production preparation work, as of February 2021, the project has recruited, trained, and transferred from the Project Management Board 259/379 direct workers; The Project Management Board is also actively working with the Group’s specialized departments and the Team to deploy work related to the operation, maintenance and repair of the factory according to the Group’s direction. And as of March 15, 2021, the number of safe hours on the project site reached over 15.5 million hours.
